No Time for Exercise
You know that you need to exercise. But your life is so busy that you barely have time to eat and sleep, so you definitely don't have time to go to the gym. So what do you do? Instead of just giving up and letting your body get more and more out of shape, follow these tips to incorporate exercise into your daily routine.
The first thing you could do to make time for exercise is to get out of bed 30 minutes early every morning or even every other morning. It is recommended that you get 30 minutes of exercise about five times a week. You can do a treadmill or stationary bike. You can also check your cable channels for some good exercise programs that may be on. If you have a favorite, tape it and use on the mornings that you want to exercise.
While brushing your teeth or other grooming activities in the morning, do calf stretches. Rise up on your toes and back down several times to stretch the calf areas of your legs. This will help build muscle and increase leg strength.
When you go to work, park farther away from the entrance, if possible. Walking is the best form of exercise. While at work, take the stairs as much as possible. Try to walk and climb stairs fast enough to get your heart rate up a little. This helps to get the blood flowing and burn calories. It will also help you become mentally alert so that you can perform better on the job.
While doing household chores, keep your back straight and tuck in your abdominal muscles. Do gardening or other household chores at a fast enough pace to get your heart rate up. You should be able to still have a conversation while doing these activities. If you become so out of breath that you can't talk, slow down. Vacuum at least one room in your house each day for a mini-workout. Stretch before and after doing household chores.
Get a buddy and take a walk on your lunch hour. Eat a healthy lunch and take a walk to burn off the excess calories. Keep a pair of good walking shoes at work to change into. Walking with a friend makes it more enjoyable and helps keep you accountable. A good friend won't let you slack off during your daily walks.
Drink plenty of water and do stretches often throughout the day. Get up from your desk and stretch out your neck and back muscles. Do calf stretches and take a walk around your office or up and down the hallway. This will not only give you much needed exercise but will also increase your ability to focus on your work.
