Go Somewhere With An Elliptical Bicycle - ElliptiGO
The ElliptiGO is part bicycle, part elliptical. The workout machine transportation device was intended by an Ironman who had been badly injured in an accident. The ElliptiGO rides like an elliptical, but moves like a bicycle. The machine can go just about anywhere a bicycle would. It uses eight gears to provide a high intensity workout without impact.
The design of an ElliptiGO
Regular bicycle tires are used with the chain drive of an elliptical machine. This is why "an outdoor elliptical bicycle" is what the ElliptiGO is considered. The machine is made with an adjustable stride length and steering column so many people can ride it. In fact, those between 5 foot and 6 foot 6 can ride the machine. Standard bicycle gear shifters move via eight gears, and also the carbon-fiber frame holds riders up to 250 pounds.
How to work out with an ElliptiGO
An ElliptiGO machine claims to be a better workout than bicycling or running alone. About 12 to 18 miles per hour is a moderate pace on the ElliptiGO. The impact of the ElliptiGO is better than a bicycle by less than running. This is on your hips and knees. You are standing instead of sitting on the ElliptiGO. This causes more calories to be burned. The full leverage of legs and hips is behind you while your body is always moving. This means, the ElliptiGO makes it easier to go up hills than it would be on a bicycle.
The ElliptiGO might be worth it
At a price of $2,200, the ElliptiGO is not an inexpensive exercise machine. The price is about on-level with a high-end carbon fiber bicycle. The ElliptiGO is part transportation and part crosstrainer when thinking about the "investment" of it. It isn't a problem with the ElliptiGO to wrinkle your clothes. With bicycle commuting, you'll have to stand. The ElliptiGO is one-tenth the price of a car. It might be worth it if you're going to use it as a transportation system.
