How long should I use my exercise bike for an effective workout?
I plan to use it every single day. After my classes are done on Monday and Wednesday and then as soon as I wake up on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (I will most likely take Sunday off unless I feel like working out)
My dad just bought a Schwinn Exercise bike (not the tall kind, but the one with a seat that you adjust to move forward or backward) and i'm trying to lose some weight.
Can I just use the cycle to lose my weight? I'm a nineteen year old female. I'm about 5'9- 5'9 1/2. and I weight about 160lbs (last I checked) I plan to lose however much weight will get me looking how I want to look. I'm aware that just by doing that i'm not necessarily toning and shaping my body how I want it to look, but i'm only focused on losing the extra fat I have.
Walking and running in my neighborhood is out of the question. (it's ghetto........)

Absolutely! Best results used in combination with a diet. You should ride for a minimum of one hour. You want to 'spin' , meaning spin the pedals at a rate of 70 rpms plus, with a moderate pedal pressure. Hopefully, the bike has a system on board for you to use. Do not ride at a slow spin rate with a lot of pedal pressure.... it is absolutely the wrong way to both exercise AND ride a bike. Spinning is the most effective way to do both.
You can use my push back diet. Eat as normal, just push back the plate when it is half gone. You will immediately cut your calories in half without changing the families cooking habits! You can expect to burn off about 35 calories per mile.
If you begin to like the bike, try driving outside the neighborhood to get your rides in. Riding on a bike, for me, is so much more fun and invigorating.
