Mom Can Find Time To Exercise
When a mom is the primary and only care giver of her baby, what happens usually is that she needs to be ready for whatever the baby needs. For example, as soon as the baby cries in hunger, she will automatically go and meet his need while dropping everything else. Whenever he complains that his diaper is soiled, she automatically goes to him to change the dirty diaper. This results in a mom that is exhausted and having very limited time for her personal needs. One of the things that a mother needs after giving birth is actually exercise, but very few of them can find time to do so.
Thankfully, something can be done. A study on infant behavior has presented new parents with a middle ground between being always there for the baby while still taking good care of mommy's personal needs. The idea begins by explaining how a baby adjusts better when the parents incorporate him into their lives instead of making him the center of their lives. What happens is that the parents become aware that they are to bring the baby into their world, instead of their adapting to the baby's world. The baby's current world will lack order, because it is the role of his parents to give him that sense of order.
As soon as that is realized, the mom can then go ahead and set a predictable schedule for her baby. Believe it or not, it is possible to estimate when the baby would be most likely to feed. The principle at this point is delivering full feedings for every meal. When the baby gets full enough at every feeding, he will naturally navigate towards a relatively regular schedule of taking milk. This is recommended over simply waiting for baby to wail in hunger, since you would never know whether to expect it in ten minutes or not until two hours later.
And last, when a baby feeds on a fixed routine, he will also sleep longer during naps. This is obviously because a full baby will sleep longer without needing to feed. This translates into the mom being able to predict baby's needs, leaving her with enough time to do other things such as exercising.
Therefore, you can see that a full-time mom can still have exercise in her average day. Developing a routine for baby is just one step to achieving that goal, but it will prove very helpful in the long run. After all, she can now enjoy more than just five minutes of time on the exercise bike or on the treadmill. It sure is a breath of fresh air from dropping everything every ten minutes for a different baby need.
